At Huntington Healthcare your comfort, safety, and dignity are at the heart of everything we do. To support this commitment, we are proud to introduce our Medical Chaperone Program for all sensitive or intimate examinations and procedures.
What Is a Medical Chaperone?
A Medical Chaperone is a trained healthcare team member who is present during sensitive exams to provide support, reassurance, and witness the interaction between the patient and healthcare provider.
When Is a Chaperone Offered?
Chaperones are available for any exam that may involve exposure of the genital, rectal, or breast areas, or any procedure you consider sensitive. This includes—but is not limited to—pelvic exams/exercises, testicular exams, and breast exams.
Your Choice Matters
Participation in the chaperone program is completely optional.
- You may request a chaperone at any time.
- You may decline a chaperone if you prefer to proceed without one.
Your provider may also offer or request a chaperone to be present, and your preferences will always be respected and discussed with you clearly beforehand.
Why This Program Matters
We believe this program helps:
- Promote transparency and trust between patients and providers
- Enhance patient and provider comfort during sensitive care
- Ensure dignity, safety, and respectful communication at every step
