With expert OB-GYNs available 24/7 and our Level IIIB NICU, which offers the highest level of neonatal care in the San Gabriel Valley, we prioritize safety for moms and their babies.

From pregnancy support to labor and delivery, and all the important things that happen after you meet your little one, we are here to care for you every step of the way.

A. We are happy to welcome you and one guest to Huntington Hospital for an in-person tour of our Family Birth Center. Tours are offered on the second Thursday of every month. To register, please fill out this form and choose the date and time that work best for you.

A. It’s important to deliver at a hospital that is prepared for the unexpected. Huntington Hospital offers beyond advanced care in our Level IIIB NICU for babies born prematurely or with medical conditions. Our NICU provides the highest level of neonatal intensive care available in the San Gabriel Valley and now utilizes live-streaming video technology allowing parents and family members to view their newborns in the NICU from anywhere, at any time, using their smartphone, tablet, or computer.  Learn more about our expert neonatal care with a compassionate touch.

A. Yes, Huntington is happy to support you and your partner with FREE virtual pregnancy, childbirth and baby care educational classes taught live online, by certified providers through our partners at BabyLiveAdviceTM. Learn more here.

A. Yes, Fair Oaks Women’s Health offers comprehensive and convenient women’s health care right next door to Huntington Hospital. Their obstetrical services include everything from routine prenatal care to high-risk pregnancy care. They have our own ultrasound department, fetal non-stress testing (NST’s) and a lab collection station on the premises.

A. Yes! We strive to meet your needs during your birth experience.

Fill out this form with your birth preferences, including details about your support person, managing labor discomfort, items you will bring from home to help you relax and stay comfortable, etc. Bring this completed Birth Partnership Form with you when you arrive at the Family Birth Center, to help all members of your birth team understand your preferences.

We are also happy to welcome doulas into the Family Birth Center! Expecting parents and doulas: Please provide doula information to our Family Birth Center manager at least 48 hours ahead of your expected due date.

A. When you prepare to come to the hospital, consider packing one bag of items that you will want in labor and delivery, and a second bag of items that you will want after delivery. Please leave large amounts of cash and any valuables at home.

Items you must bring:
□ Insurance card, photo ID, hospital forms, birth plan (if you have one), advanced directive (if you have one), and a list of your allergies/medications.
□ Properly installed infant car seat and base.
□ Going home outfit for baby (and a back-up outfit).
□ Going home blanket for baby.
□ Going home outfit for mom (loose fitting pregnancy clothes are the best option).

Items that are nice to have:
□ Cell phone and charger (for pictures and sharing the news!).
□ Favorite personal toiletries (toothbrush and toothpaste, hair care products, deodorant, lip balm).
□ Nursing bra.
□ Nursing gown, pajamas and/or robe.
□ Favorite music.
□ Favorite pillow and/or breastfeeding pillow.
□ For your support person: nutritious snacks, drinks, a change of clothes and toiletries for overnight stays.

During your stay, Huntington Hospital provides sanitary products, disposable underwear, basic toiletries, breast pump equipment if needed and meals for mom, diapers, baby care products, blankets and shirts for baby.

A. Yes, we welcome healthy visitors at our hospital to support you before, during and after your baby is born.

Family Birth Center

  • One birth partner and two support persons, 24 hours/day.

Mother Baby Unit (Maternity)

  • Two visitors at a time, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • One overnight visitor allowed.

Perinatal High-Risk Unit (PHRU)

  • Two visitors at a time, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • One overnight visitor allowed.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

  • Two parents/guardians, 24 hours/day.
  • Siblings must be age 3 or older, other minors must be 13 or older.
  • Only two at bedside.

A. Nursing your baby is a learned skill for both mother and infant, requiring time and patience. While many women are able to successfully breastfeed soon after delivery, some women need assistance to breastfeed their baby. Our nurses are certified in lactation support and education and have extensive experience in supporting breastfeeding for new mothers. Read the 10 steps for successful breastfeeding and learn more about our lactation support here.

After you leave the hospital, our pediatric nurses who are certified Lactation Education Specialists, can help families with newborn feeding concerns. If you have concerns about feeding or your baby’s weight, our pediatric team is here to guide you with compassion and expertise.

A. Yes, after your baby is born, he or she will need to be examined by a pediatrician. If your pediatrician does not have privileges at Huntington Hospital, we have an on-staff pediatrician available. Find a local, trusted pediatrician here.

A. Yes, we serve pediatric patients of all ages, from day-old infants to 18-year-olds in our inpatient pediatric unit, with age-appropriate care and sensitivity for each child’s individual needs.

Our board-certified hospital-based pediatricians are in the hospital 24 hours a day, available to provide ongoing care for your child. In addition, our in-house physicians work closely with each child’s primary pediatrician, to ensure an optimal continuum of care. Learn more here.

A. Going home from the hospital after having your baby can be very exciting, but it is not uncommon for new moms to experience postpartum depression and/or anxiety. You are not alone. Our Maternal Wellness Program is designed specifically to help mothers experiencing these symptoms.
