Jan 9 2018

Report cards are out for the nation’s hospitals, and Huntington Hospital has received a 5-star rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare website.

Hospital Compare has information about the quality of care at over 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals across the country, only 337 of which received 5-star ratings. The website rates hospitals against 64 measures of quality. This rating recognizes Huntington Hospital for exceptional treatment of heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia and surgery.

“At Huntington Hospital, our physicians, nurses and employees are committed to providing exceptional, compassionate care for our patients from the moment they walk through our doors,” said Paula Verrette, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer, quality and physician services, Huntington Hospital. “We are proud to receive this 5-star recognition, as many people are using websites, such as Hospital Compare, to help make decisions on which hospitals to choose for their care.”

About Hospital Compare
Hospital Compare is the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) public information website, designed to make it easier for consumers to choose a hospital and understand the quality of care they deliver. Hospital Compare was created through the efforts of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in collaboration with organizations representing consumers, hospitals, doctors, employers, accrediting organizations, and other federal agencies.

The Hospital Compare star ratings relate to patients’ experience of care at 4,000 Medicare-certified acute care hospitals. The ratings are based on data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey (HCAHPS) measures that are included in Hospital Compare.
