Recognition for the fourth time reinforces a commitment to nursing excellence
Huntington Health, an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai, attained Magnet recognition for the fourth consecutive time, a testament to its continued dedication to high-quality nursing practice. The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program® distinguishes health care organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. This credential is the highest national honor for professional nursing practice and is earned by only 10.5% of hospitals nationwide.

“What an incredible achievement for our nursing team, our nursing leadership and the entire institution,” said John M. Corman, MD, president and chief clinical officer, Huntington Health. “Our patients are the true beneficiaries of Huntington nurse’s skills every day. It is truly each patient, every time, right here. Our nurses are the bedrock of Huntington Health. They offer extraordinary care to our patients every single day. The achievement of Magnet designation celebrates this commitment to our community.”
Achieving Magnet recognition four times places Huntington Health among an exceptionally small group of organizations nationwide, among just 109 hospitals, underscoring the sustained excellence and long-term commitment required to maintain Magnet status across multiple cycles.
“This recognition is a testament to our nursing team and the collaborative culture that supports exceptional care across Huntington,” said Jinhee Nguyen, DNP, MBA, RN, senior vice president, chief operating officer, and chief nursing officer. “Every day, our nurses bring our mission to life through the expertise and compassion they show patients, families and one another. Their dedication not only strengthens the care we provide but also helps distinguish Huntington as a trusted leader in health care.”
To achieve initial Magnet recognition, organizations must pass a rigorous and lengthy process that demands widespread participation from leadership and staff. This process includes an electronic application, written patient care documentation, an on-site visit, and a review by the Commission on Magnet Recognition.
Health care organizations must reapply for Magnet recognition every four years based on adherence to Magnet concepts and demonstrated improvements in patient care and quality. An organization reapplying for Magnet recognition must provide documented evidence to demonstrate how staff members sustained and improved Magnet concepts, performance and quality over the four-year period since the organization received its most recent recognition.
